Diana V. Do, MD: Hi, I'm joined by my friend and colleague, Margaret A. Chang, MD, MS. You presented some exciting new data about an investigational therapy for diabetic macular edema. Tell us a little bit about it.
Margaret A. Chang, MD, MS: So this was the first-time result of the JADE trial for OLN-324 (Ollin Biosciences) for diabetic macular edema, the 20-week results. And basically OLN-324 in both dose groups [2 mg and 4 mg] showed faster and greater drying than faricimab (Vabysmo; Genentech) through week 12 and all the way out to week 24, even though 93% of these patients did not need retreatment from week 12 to week 20.
Dr. Do: That’s wonderful. How about any safety signals? Is it a tolerable drug?
Dr. Chang: Absolutely. There were no cases of intraocular inflammation (IOI) or any other adverse events of special interest. There was 1 case of IOI in the faricimab group, which is expected given what we’ve seen before.
Dr. Do: Well, with these exciting results, what are the future plans for this new agent?
Dr. Chang: There's going to be some pivotal neovascular AMD and DME trials that are going to be upcoming in phase 3 starting later this year.
Dr. Do: Thank you so much for sharing this latest news with us and we look forward to updates in the near future. RP
