Zeiss Medical Technology announced additions to its retinal imaging and surgical portfolio this week at the EURETINA 2026 Congress in Vienna, including a multimodal imaging system combining OCT and fundus photography in a single device.
The new Zeiss Alta Duo 300 is a fully automated system designed for routine retinal imaging. The device combines OCT and fundus imaging and joins the company’s existing Cirrus OCT and Clarus fundus imaging platforms. In a press release, Zeiss said the system is intended to simplify image acquisition and access to retinal diagnostic information. The Alta Duo has not yet been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the United States.
Zeiss also introduced the HMDmd CR3, a head-mounted 3D digital display that connects with the Artevo 850 surgical microscope. The display provides access to the microscope’s digital visualization capabilities and data overlays while giving surgeons another option for viewing procedures. The HMDmd CR3 is commercially available in the United States, and will be displayed next week at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in New Orleans.
The company also reported continued expansion of its 27-gauge TDC Veloce vitrectomy cutter. According to Zeiss, clinical data suggest that increased flow with the cutter can reduce core vitrectomy time by up to 41% compared with its predecessor.
Zeiss also announced that the DORC brand is being consolidated under the Zeiss name as the companies integrate their vitreoretinal surgical portfolio. RP
