Biocon Ltd announced in a press release the commercial launch of Yesafili (aflibercept-jbvf) in the United States. Yesafili, a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor used to treat various types of ophthalmology conditions, is a biosimilar of its reference product Eylea (aflibercept 2 mg; Regeneron).

Yesafili is approved for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, and macular edema following retinal vein occulusion, making it interchangeable with Eylea for those indications. The product was approved previously and granted interchangeable designation by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in May 2024. RP
