ICAPS SOFTGEL AREDS OCULAR SUPPLEMENT
■ New easier-dosing ICaps Softgel ocular supplement AREDS formula is now available from Alcon. Two Softgels deliver the same levels of vitamins and minerals tested in the AREDS study. With half as many pills to take, patients may be more likely to be compliant with recommendations for ocular supplements, says Alcon.
The ICaps Softgel AREDS formula is recommended for patients who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe age-related macular changes. It should be noted that the high-potency vitamin C, vitamin E, and zinc ingredient levels found in ICaps Softgel AREDS formula supplements generally can be attained only by supplementation and not through diet alone.
The new ICaps Softgel AREDS formula is part of a family of ICaps ocular supplements, including the ICaps MV multi-vitamin and the ICaps Lutein & Zeaxanthin formula.
The ICaps MV multi-vitamin contains no beta carotene so it is safe for patients who smoke. The Lutein & Zeaxanthin tablet is recommended for patients who are concerned about, and may be at risk for, age-related macular changes but have not yet been diagnosed with them.
